How I Started Teaching Guitar on the Internet

Where do I begin??? ....I started this whole thing (teaching guitar on the internet) during my freshman year of college in 2009 when it really wasn't cool to be a YouTuber. I told basically no one, except for my parents, my brother, and our cat.

Did I plan on this being my career? Definitely not. I had no idea this could even be a way to make a living.

Actually, I couldn't even legally be a part of the Partner Program, so I made no money the first few years, which was totally fine because this was just a fun hobby for me. :)

I started out by posting my own covers of Taylor Swift songs and then people started requesting for me to teach how to play them. I was using my shiny new white 2008 macbook I bought myself for school: it had a webcam and iMovie. And I had just enough audacity to put myself out there on the internet in front of random strangers.

One video after another, my channel began to grow...and several years later, I was able to make it my full-time career and I even met my now husband who also teaches guitar in front of a camera! That part is absolutely WILD to me.

I'm truly grateful for all of the amazing opportunities that have come my way over the years, friendships I've made, and the life I have now all because 19 year old me posted videos that I would now cringe at, but also go awww she's so cute and wish I could give her a BIG HUG. If she and I could sit down for a chat, her mind would be blown. So, go after your dreams! And don't let anyone tell you otherwise - I sure didn't because I'm stubborn as hell hehe.
